Environmental Prosecutions Filed

This table shows the flow of matters from when the investigative agencies present a proposed case to the prosecutors to when it gets filed. Because of the time required to consider the merits and demerits of each matter, a referral from an agency sometimes may occur in one year or administration and be prosecuted during the next year or by the next administration. For the whole twelve years, for example, there were 22,026 prosecutions with a handful of them, 741, based on referrals made before the period began.
