TRAC's first report using monthly Justice Department data helped numerous reporters evaluate law enforcement by the FBI and other federal agencies in the months following the September 11th attacks. News organizations around the country picked up TRAC's first post 9/11 agency analysis on the FBI.

The advisory addressed a post-9/11 jump in terrorism referrals, and a correspondingly dramatic leap in the number of cases that were not prosecuted by U.S. Attorneys. Another surprising finding from the Special Advisory shows a decline in FBI intelligence personnel since the attacks.

David Pace, a reporter for the Associated Press, produced a story from TRAC's report which ran in dozens of national newspapers from Buffalo to L.A. and from Miami to Seattle.
